Now an international business, the social darts venue operator has applied for a licence at Eldon Square as it looks to make its North East debut.

The eastern concourse building, a major part of the £140m redevelopment, has been handed over to Network Rail by main contractor Willmott Dixon.

The North East geotechnical and ground engineering specialist has appointed Neil Jones as associate director.

With asbestos removal complete, hoardings and scaffolding have been erected around the former Northern Echo building as its redevelopment advances.

One of the country’s most active contractors, Morgan Sindall Construction will be returning to the international property expo in 2025 as part of the growing Place North delegation.

Outline proposals have been lodged by Northumberland County Council for up to 200 homes at the 14-acre site.

Two new dining options and the refurbishment of existing restaurants have amounted to 25,000 sq ft of changes at the North East’s largest shopping centre. 

Work is expected to begin soon on the redevelopment of the facility into a community sports hub, which will be operated by the Middlesbrough FC Foundation on a 25-year lease.
