The Maltings revamp tipped to start in autumn

The government’s £45bn programme needs stronger governance, tighter cost control, and a credible delivery plan, the Public Accounts Committee has warned.

The partnership between Taylor Wimpey, Persimmon Homes, and Newcastle City Council is looking into adding another 240 homes to the 1,200 acre site. 

The North East planning firm has relocated from Newcastle to Northumberland, following a period of expansion. 

Following completion of its £50m specialist replacement, plans are in motion to demolish the healthcare facility and deliver residential on the nine-acre site off Queen Alexandra Road.

In a speech in Manchester on Monday, Andy Burnham promised to introduce a Finnish approach to housing, roll out GM-style good growth funds across the country, and give more powers to mayors if he becomes Prime Minister.

Centred on regeneration and industrial investment, the strategy sets out a pipeline of regeneration, infrastructure, and economic development priorities across the region and has now been approved by the Combined Authority.

King has rejoined the developer as director of project management for the regions, where he is already working on the developer’s Sunniside Sunderland regeneration scheme.

The Riverside Hotel will provide 154 guest rooms with more than 50% overlooking the pitch, as the club looks to develop itself into a major sporting destination. 

One of the city’s largest lettings this year, the consultancy will occupy floors four and five of the Gallowgate building, committing to a 15-year lease.
