Persimmon completes Co Durham land purchase

Work can now start on the site in Crook, where permission was granted for 256 homes in March this year.

The Yorkshire-headquartered developer will deliver two to five-bed houses, located at High West Road to the north-west of the town.

Named Mown Meadows, 26 of the properties will be bungalows and 38 will be allocated as affordable housing, either sold at a reduced rate or transferred to a local housing association.

Plans for the site include more than 16 acres of open space, 3,000 new trees planted, EV charging facilities for each home, and an £800,000 contribution from Persimmon towards local healthcare and education.

Olly Thompson, land director at Persimmon Homes Durham, commented: “We are looking forward to starting construction and opening the development to buyers in the coming months.”
