Green light for 800,000 sq ft at IAMP
Town End Farm can now progress with its plans for three industrial units on the southern part of the Sunderland site, which will look to support the automotive industry in the North East.
Proposals were submitted last August by Hedley Planning and construction is expected to start later this year.
The units will measure approximately 170,200 sq ft, 140,600 sq ft, and 490,000 sq ft, and will each consist of warehouse space with ground floor offices, vehicle and HGV parking, and yard space.
Plans are for single-storey buildings with a maximum height of 20m, with trees and hedges screening the northern and eastern edges.
The Industrial Advanced Manufacturing Park is a joint venture between South Tyneside and Sunderland councils, developed by HBD on 370-acres of land to the north of the Nissan factory.
Hedley Planning’s associate director Alex Franklin said: “This latest planning approval will see the go-ahead for another important phase in the park’s development – new units in IAMP and other locations, which benefit from investment in good planning, design, and modern construction materials, are well sought after and in high demand.”
Peter Razaq, managing director at Town End Farm Partnership, added: “This is a terrific scheme that will now proceed, meeting the strong demand for high quality industrial units in important North East locations and supporting the economic growth of local businesses.
“We are delighted with the outcome of the planning committee, and our thanks go to Sunderland City Council for their vision and continued support.”
