Bellway starts second stage at Lower Callerton
Construction has begun on plots that will see a further 141 homes delivered at the Abbey Heights development, where outline consent for 900 homes is in place.
The scheme, on which work started in 2019, sits off North Walbottle Road on the western edge of Newcastle.
Detailed approval is now in place for 513 homes across six of the eight land parcels within the 178-acre masterplan.
The first phase of Abbey Heights, comprising 137 homes in the southern part of the new neighbourhood, is now nearing completion.
The main phase two area will include a mix of 45 three, four and five-bedroom houses for private sale alongside 11 two and three-bedroom affordable houses available for local people.
Bellway is also now building 85 four and five-bedroom homes for sale at The View at Abbey Heights within the wider scheme.
Emma Chesterton, sales director of Bellway North East, said: “Bellway is bringing a significant number of homes to this part of Newcastle to meet the local housing need and we are pleased to have started work on this new phase of construction at Abbey Heights.”
The development site sits within reach of the A69 and A1 and is six miles from Newcastle city centre and Newcastle International Airport.
